The Weather and the Beetle

Unfortunately, someone drove into the side of the Beetle on Friday when Craig was driving it. The other guy wasn't looking and he pulled out of a junction and straight into the side of Craig. Apparently, he was quite aggressive too and initially tried to contest his responsibility. He phoned our house later (obviously when his adrenaline subsided a bit and he was thinking more clearly) apologised and accepted his responsibility. Apparently he drives for a living and he was concerned about the potential impact on his job. Craig's ok- the car is a bit dented and needs resprayed but all in all it's not too bad.

We're on a severe weather warning at the moment. High winds are battering the south west and we've been advised to stay away from the coast. Obviously, not good for the surfer. Did you see that Porthcurno Beach in Cornwall made it into the Sunday Times Top 10 Beaches in the world? It's a great beach, definitely one I'll need to take you all too. (It's right down the bottom tip and is a bit of a drive- that's why you've not been yet!)

I managed a short run yesterday, but my running partner had had a bacon sandwich too close to her run and was feeling sick so we kept it steady...and short. Marathon training is almost over as the London Marathon is only a couple of weeks away now. So that'll mean there are no more really long runs for a while.

I was thinking what I might do when one of the Nurses at work asked me whether I'd like to join her team for the 'Three Peak's Challenge' in June this year. The challenge is to climb Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scafell (Lake District) and Snowdonia (Wales) in 24hr hours. There will be four of us in the team (not including the driver who drives the minibus between the climbs). It's on the 20th of June (the longest night) because we'll need to climb through the night for two of the peaks. The idea is we will run the flat bits and walk the inclines. I've just booked my one way flight to Glasgow from Newquay. Training starts in April!

Dad- we've forgotten the name of the place we were supposed to be doing the recce tour of ....Can you remind me please? (Nr Newquay)

Hope all's well,
Kelly
