Saturday- St Agnes Rowing Club
Yesterday I had my first experience of Gig Rowing (8 in a boat, one big paddle each!). As far as I am aware, it's originally a sport that was born out of necessity as locals living in peninsula's had to row out to larger boats to retrieve the goods they were delivering. They hold the 'World Championships' in the Isles of Scilly each year. I'm told that this is attended mainly by Cornish teams with some entries from France and the Netherlands! I was fairly terrible at it (didn't keep in time and lots of back splash!)- but you've got to start somewhere... and they're letting me come back next week, so I guess I couldn't have been that bad!
Craig and I also went to a reclamation yard that we'd heard about from a friend. We're in the process of sourcing out a wood burning stove, flue and hearth etc for the living room. At the yard we found some great big bits of slate which would do nicely for the hearth. They also had some decking that Craig was eyeing up for the back garden!
I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that movie of Braeden on Lucy's blog- those moves!!!! Where does he get those from!
