It's Wednesday night and I was supposed to be having my last run before the weekend tonight. However, the weather has turned really horrible here, its wet and windy. So I have come home instead.
I've been experiencing bouts of anxiety thinking about the challenge at the weekend. I've found a website where you can look at weather cams of the summits of the mountains... and each time I look all I can see is mist and rain! What have I let myself in for?! The forecast for Nevis on Saturday night is rain, so I am rethinking the clothes I intend to take with me. I'll need more layers I think.
I've also been looking at websites that list all the emergency calls made to the Mountain Rescue services. I read that it can be a good idea to read these as they will familiarise you with commonly encountered problems. And at first, I was feeling quite confident. It appeared that all the people who had got into trouble were older, or very young. Until I read on... then '29yr old female 3 peaker lost her group in mist...' aaargh!
I spoke to Andy last night who is our friend whose job is as an outdoor instructor. He practically lives up the hills. He thinks I'll be ok, so I'm consoling myself with this. Do you think it's too late to back out....???
PS Gary thinks I should buy the house we all stayed in at Lelant (nr St Ives).. the really big one. When I said I'd need a loan he offered me 20p and some jelly babies...!! That won't quite cut it!
