I just watched the videos Gary and Lucy put on their blogs. Although with the sound still not working on our laptop, I had to watch them without audio. I have however used my imagination and added my own soundtrack! Can't wait to try and catch Rossieboy later to see if he is well enough yet to help me fix it so I can watch them again with the sound.
Yesterday Craig went to a local reclamation yard and bought some slate. We're going to use this as the hearth for the multifuel burner. He found four tiles (see picture) that uncannily are the exact size we needed. Result!
I've also included a picture taken in the back garden. The table and chairs was a present from Dawn. There is normally a parasol on the table, but we took it down this week when it started getting windier. Also note in the picture, Craig has erected his hammock in the background. Although I think I'll give it a miss until the weather imrpoves again.
Last night we went to Bof's house for dinner. She is a running buddy of mine- one of the 3Peakers. She lives in a converted school at the other side of Cornwall. Her house is gorgeous and we had dinner in one of the old classrooms.
Bof had emailed me before the event to ask if there was anything Craig didn't like to eat..... erm, yes, where do I begin? So I just lied and said he'd be fine and crossed my fingers. The starter was salmon, trout, horseradish mousse and a little accompanying cup of clear tomato soup. I thought it was really delicious! Especially the horseradish mousse which was almost sweet.
However, it wasn't up Craig's street. He's not keen on cold fish. Although he did a marvellous attempt at mashing it all up and trying to hide the fish he hadn't eaten under salad leaves! I didn't like the tomato soup thing, but I'm a bit fussy and rarely eat tomato soup. I know this will make Lucy gasp, but I don't even likeHeinz tomato soup! Sacrilige!
Main course was venison in a mushroom sauce, broad beans and rice and was absolutely delicious. I love venison and Craig thought it was great too. Dessert was a St Clements panna cotta and an accompanying plum duf. Which we both thought was scrummy. There was cheese on offer after, but by then I'd consumed enough calories and so declined.
Ok- gotta go, I was going to write more but Snoop has just bought in a live vole! AARGH!
